Ever wondered what it takes to put on a large event like the UC Berkeley Suicide Prevention Walk and how you can get involved? Come to one of our general meetings to find out! You Mean More meets every Wednesday from 7-8 PM in 88 Dwinelle.
As a member you will be asked to join one of four committees – You Mean More, Admin, Finance, or Marketing. You Mean More handles all of the internal aspects of the club from planning club socials to teach-ins to educating each other about how to foster a safe space and supportive community. Admin is in charge of figuring out the logistics of the actual walk including the walk route, resource fair, activities, and decorations. Finance keeps track of all of the money that goes in and out of the club, whether it be ASUC grants that are put towards hosting on-campus events through You Mean More or finding corporate sponsors to help fund the Suicide Prevention Walk. The marketing team works to promote all awareness and education events on campus ranging from Sproul displays and fundraising events to the walk itself, and recruiting teams and walk participants to register in the spring. Each committee has a co-chair to faciliate meetings and keep track of everything that’s going on, but we always need more general members to help us brainstorm and execute all of our endeavors!
If you are interested in becoming a part of our team, applications for 2013-14 General Members are available here.
